IGNITE AWARD | PATRICK COX

With immense gratitude we recognize Patrick Cox as the recipient of the 2025 Ignite Award, which honors a business leader for their commitment to Cristo Rey Dallas and the Corporate Work Study program.

Pat Cox began his career in 1980 with Cities Service Company in Midland Texas as an exploration Geologist. In 1983 he joined the predecessor of Cox Resources Corporation where he generated and participated in the operations of investment drilling programs. From 1992 to 2000 he sourced, evaluated, and presented oil and gas property acquisitions for an institutional investor. Since 2001, he has been involved in investments in oil and gas and real estate, and as a geological consultant providing unconventional shale play analysis, reserve estimates and valuations.  Pat is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and The Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists. Before his involvement with Cristo Rey Dallas, he served on the Advisory Board of DFW USO, was a big brother with Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and coached youth basketball for twenty years, taking seven teams to the DPL Championship, and achieving seven silver medals.

In October 2013 Pat was asked to participate in the Feasibility Study to bring a Cristo Rey school to Dallas. From 2014 to 2024 he served as a Cristo Rey Dallas Board Member and chaired the Corporate Work Study Program Jobs Committee, where he has participated in hundreds of meetings recruiting new Job Partners. Pat also served as the Executive Director of The Corporate Work Study Program from April 2018 to June 2019 shaping the success of the Corporate Work Study program. Since then, he has been a true champion of our mission. We are incredibly fortunate to have his expertise and commitment and are thrilled to honor him for the significant impact he’s made.

LUMINOUS AWARD | SCHOOL SISTERS OF NOTRE DAME

It is with heartfelt joy that we honor the School Sisters of Notre Dame with the 2025 Luminous Award, which recognizes a person or organization who demonstrates passion and commitment to the mission of Cristo Rey Dallas.

The School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND) arrived in the Dallas Diocese in 1902, which was then an exceptionally large mission diocese. Initially, the sisters went to rural areas to educate children in schools and parishes that requested their presence. As the population increased, other Dioceses were formed, making it difficult to serve such a broad area. In 1962, the sisters became part of a new Dallas Province headquartered in Dallas, marking the beginning of their pioneering work in starting new schools. They established more than fourteen elementary schools and the University of Dallas. The sisters also became more active in hospitals, Diocesan offices of Education, Notre Dame Special School, and other critical needs of the Catholic community, including Catholic Charities.

In 2011, the Dallas Province merged with three other provinces in the United States, forming the School Sisters of Notre Dame Central Pacific Province. Around the same time, Cristo Rey Dallas was becoming a reality, the sisters agreed to endorse the catholicity of the school, beginning a blessed partnership. Year after year the sisters share their passion and dedication to advancing the mission of Cristo Rey Dallas. Their presence on campus has enriched our faith formation and brought immense joy to our students over the last 10 years. We are deeply thankful for the profound role they have played in shaping our community.
