Welcome

Welcome to the Purple Threads Event registration page. By joining us at The Oasis on June 1st, we invite you to be part of an unforgettable evening dedicated to the power of life, love, and legacy. This night will serve as a celebration of Graylan Spring’s extraordinary gift to the world—his selfless decision to become an organ donor. Through his decision, Graylan’s life continues to weave an enduring story of hope and transformation, touching the lives of countless individuals.

As we gather, we will be reminded of the profound impact of organ donation—the ‘purple threads’ of life that connect us all. Graylan’s legacy extends beyond the physical world, as his heart, liver, kidneys, cornea, and tissue were all donated, giving a second chance at life to those in need. His act of compassion transcends the ordinary and highlights the powerful ripple effect one person can have. On this special evening, we will honor Graylan's memory, reflect on the beauty of generosity, and raise awareness about the life-saving power of organ donation. Together, we will weave new threads of connection, fostering a deeper understanding of how acts of kindness and love continue to shape the world long after they are given.

Story and Mission

Graylan Spring is known to many as a gregarious, athletic, selfless, jovial friend to all and a fierce competitor when he put on the football pads! He loved the Lord, his family, friends and teammates. Graylan was living his life-long dream studying business and playing Division 1 football for the Lumberjacks of Stephen F. Austin State University when a tragic accident happened on January 20, 2023.

Graylan was a passenger in a car traveling to Houston on a Friday afternoon when a tractor trailer pulled out in front of them blocking their lane. First responders were able to rescue Graylan from the car, but he suffered major head trauma. He was air lifted to the nearest trauma hospital where family and friends gathered as the medical staff worked tirelessly to save his life. Ultimately, the brain trauma proved to be too extensive to support life, but Graylan's beautiful body was untouched, and he was able to qualify as an Organ Donor. His self-directed donation went on to save many lives. Graylan's death left a lasting impact on many in the Central Texas area as well as at Stephen F. Austin State University.

The Graylan Spring Foundation was created to help empower student-athletes through scholarship opportunities and to provide vital financial support to various educational, athletic, and youth organizations. By investing in students' academic and athletic pursuits, we aim to foster excellence, cultivate leadership, and unlock the full potential of promising young individuals, ensuring a brighter future for all. The Foundation is dedicated to raising awareness about organ donation by collaborating with Donate Life organizations, LifeGift and TOSA. Our mission is to achieve 100% donor registration through presentations at high school organizations, college organizations, and businesses. In addition, we strive to foster stronger connections between organ donor families and recipients while offering essential resources to the Central Texas community
