Please join us for an unforgettable evening under the stars - Enjoy the sounds of classic country dance band, Raised Right Men and help us honor our 2022 Best Friend of the Farmstead Irma Landis. Come celebrate the steadfast spirit of our agricultural past; something to be honored, protected and preserved specifically the rural heritage and agricultural lifestyles that were instrumental in establishing communities in North Texas.
The Heritage Farmstead Museum is located on an 1891 historic farm site. The farm includes a historic Victorian home, barn and historic outbuildings. The museum officially opened in 1976 to provide educational, cultural and recreational opportunities to the public and over the years have inspired over 1.5 million visitors including thousands of students through history field trips and special programs.
This event is to raise awareness and funds for our preservation and education initiatives. For over forty years the museum has provided award winning programs and events to 35,000 visitors annually. It is a beloved community asset enjoyed by people of all ages and backgrounds.
The Heritage Farmstead Museum has selected Irma Landis to receive the 2022 Best Friend of the Farmstead award.
This award goes to an outstanding individual who has made a significant impact on the museum through their long term commitment to leadership, volunteerism, financial support and involvement.
Irma Landis has been a part of the museum for over 25 years. Her dedication to the museum and her community kept this rare North Texas treasure afloat when the Heritage Farmstead Museum experienced some unexpected
financial turbulence. Irma continues to volunteer as "chicken lady" during school fieldtrips and educational programming. She has become a gracious host leading tours in the historic Young House.
Irma continues to inspire all around her with regard to the importance of volunteering. She encourages all to find their passion and give back to the community. We thank you Irma for your service to the Heritage Farmstead Museum.
"Love cannot remain by itself -- it has no meaning.
Love has to be put into action, and that action is service." – Mother Teresa
Raised Right Men
Raised Right Men — DFW’s premier classic country band — started building their songbook of old-school C&W cuts and beloved sing-along standards in 2014. Today, they’ve got a couple of hundred honky-tonk heirlooms ready to go at the drop of a hat, and every tune they play was picked to get butts moving on the dance floor.
Whipped into shape by steady blue-collar gigging and standing weekly and monthly residencies, the ace musicians of Raised Right Men make ‘em like they used to — and they’re looking to show you a damned good time as they celebrate and share the traditional country sounds of days gone by.
Raised Right Men is Justin Collins (lead vocal/acoustic guitar), Ray Austin (pedal steel guitar), LD Hill (electric guitar), Clint Sturgeon (bass guitar/backing vocals), and Grady Don Sandlin (drums).
