About ISW
Our Story
Founded in October of 2007, It’s a Sensory World! was created by a parent, Rekha Suryanarayana, and a teacher, Angela Stephens. Together their vision was to create a space where children with special needs would not only be accepted but celebrated.
It's a Sensory World! began as the first recreational sensory gym in the state and the second in the nation. ISW provides therapeutic education, recreation and support for neurodiverse individuals and their families. Our distinct approach integrates every personʼs customized interventions in an environment of understanding and encouragement – promoting incredible growth, independence and the hope of an inclusive future.
Today, it’s a Sensory World! serves hundreds of children with special needs and their families from 130+ zip codes throughout North Texas and is well-known in the community for providing heartfelt, high-quality services.
It's a Sensory World! presents... Carnival for a Cause!
Our goal is to aid in the inclusion process using unique programming to serve over 300 children annually! The annual spring gala serves as one of our most significant fundraising opportunities of the year, drawing more than 275 attendees in 2022 and raising over $150,000.00 for our organization. This year, we are having a Rio Carnival & Masquerade-themed event, complete with silent and live auctions, casino games, entertainment, and more. It is sure to be an evening of elegance and entertainment!
