Located in the West Dallas just around the corner from Mercy Street, the Lakewest Multipurpose Center was once home to the former Lakewest YMCA. In partnership with the Dallas Housing Authority, this venue will allow us to showcase where we have been and where we are headed. 


Dr. Adam C. Wright

Adam C. Wright was elected president of Dallas Baptist University in June 2016. Under his leadership, he has expanded academic and athletic programs, the main campus footprint from 292 acres to 368 acres, increased campus facilities by adding 12 new buildings, and has achieved record growth in traditional-age undergraduate students and residents living on campus. Since 2016, the University endowment has increased from $37.7 million to approximately $70 million in 2024 and total assets increased from $182 million in 2016 to $238 million in 2024 and more than $72 million has been raised since 2016 through new initiatives and fundraising campaigns.

Prior to his presidency, Dr. Wright served at DBU as a vice president and academic dean as well as several other roles in administrative, academic, advancement, and enrollment functions since 2002. He has traveled extensively around the world teaching and recruiting for DBU and continues as part of the teaching faculty for the DBU/University of Oxford Doctoral Institute as well leads a spring break study trip for student leaders in Washington, D.C. In 2014, Dr. Wright founded DBU’s Institute for Global Engagement, a Christian think tank with a focus on bringing together scholars and practitioners as a catalyst for moral and spiritual renewal in society. He has hosted leaders such as former United States President George Bush, former First Lady Laura Bush, United States Ret. General Jim Mattis, and former United States Attorney General William Barr. He oversees the publication of the “Daily Briefing” on contemporary issues from a biblical perspective, and the programming of “Veritas”, an on-campus forum discussing timely topics from a Christian worldview.

In 2018, Dr. Wright received the Legacy Award by the US Pan Asian American Chamber-SW. In 2019, Baekesok University in Korea, awarded Dr. Wright the Honorary Doctorate in Christian Education. In 2022 and 2023 he was named by DMagazine as one of Dallas’ Most Influential Business Leaders. He has served on a number of not-for-profit boards in leadership roles including but not limited to the Consortium for Global Education, Media Alliance International, Denison Forum, International Association of Baptist Colleges and Universities, Bridge Builders, Council for Life, The Classic Learning Test, and Lone Star Athletic Conference. He actively participates as a member of the Independent Colleges and Universities of Texas president’s group as well as the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities national advocacy group. Dr. Wright has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, a Master of Education in Higher Education, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Leadership Studies from DBU. Since 2018, he has been an annual participant in the Yale School of Management, Chief Executive Leadership Institute. His hobbies include running, reading, traveling, and spending time with his family.
