Framed Catalog of Mickey Mantle Memorabilia Auction

Mickey Charles Mantle, nicknamed "the Commerce Comet" and "the Mick", played his entire Major League Baseball career with the New York Yankees as a center fielder, right fielder, and first baseman. Mickey Mantle was born on Tuesday, October 20, 1931, in Spavinaw, Oklahoma. Mantle was 19 years old when he broke into the big leagues on April 17, 1951, with the New York Yankees. He played on 12 pennant winners and 7 World Championship teams. He still holds the records for most World Series home runs (18), RBIs (40), runs (42), walks (43), extra-base hits (26), and total bases (123). He was clocked at an incredible 2.9 seconds from home to first on a left-handed drag bunt and could round the bases in an amazing 13 seconds! Two years to the day after his MLB debut – on April 17, 1953 – future Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle hit one of the furthest recorded home runs in history. It was that day when the term “tape-measure home run” was born, as one of the game's best power hitters hit a colossal 565-foot shot out of Griffith Stadium. This beautiful catalog #346 or a Limited Edition of 536 catalogs from the auction held November 22, 1997, at Southgate Tower Hotel in NYC has been signed by Mickey Mantle. This was the very first time this collection was ever offered for sale for the one-of-a-kind items from the Greer Johnson Collection. The Certificate of Authenticity accompanies the catalog.
