Biography:

Loose, sinewy lines and finger print color characterize John D Williams drawings and paintings. Using an ink dropper or squeeze bottle and finger painting, he works rapidly and gesturally. John grew up as a comic book kid. He read all the books in the library about comic strips and the artists behind them. In high school, he was bowled over by a Hans Hoffman painting and discovered he had an appreciation for Jackson Pollack and the other action painters. Never quite removed from his comic book roots, he has forged a unique style of fine artist/cartoonist. John has a bachelor’s in fine art. After college, he found a modestly accommodating job at the Fort Worth Art Museum as a guard. There, he had access to modern masterworks for eight hours a day plus a full rein of the books in the gift shop. Later, he returned to school to get a master’s in social work. For the next few decades, he worked alone and in total obscurity. While his private works are autobiographical, his current works showcase his unique blend of personal style and occasional gallows humor.
